The now famous ‘Stars of Darts‘ sponsorship scheme is soon to start it’s voting stage – but there still is time to buy a share – the chance for us darts fans to part sponsor a professional player (or budding youth tour player) to give them that extra ‘push’ that financial help gives em. Previous winners have included Steve Grubb, Tony Eccles, Justin Pipe, and current sponsored player James Richardson.
£20 buys you 1 share, which gives you 4 vote. As a shareholder you can spread these votes around as you see fit, or give them all to 1 player. Democracy rules – and the form have been great at picking players so far! Who will be the next Justin Pipe? Can our next choice be the next ‘Barney Slayer’ James Richardson? We shall see. At the moment there are 13 players in the mix – and it’s quite a mixture of youth, experience, big and lesser known names. I can count many of them as friends or acquittances, and all are great picks…. The Current balance stands at £2,580!
2. No return is expected to the sponsorship pot for any money won on Pro Tour or European Tour events, however the player must repay 5% from any TV winnings over the year. That would increase to 7.5% should they reach the last 16 or beyond.
3. TSoD Patch must be worn at every tournament the player attends within the PDC both floor and TV for the period of 1 year.
